Potty Training 101

I'm sure that title conjures up all kinds of images for you.

So here is the scoop. I would like to potty train Will, in fact I've made a few feeble attempts...but we have a small problem. He loves to sit on the potty (that's not the problem), but he has yet to actually deposit anything in it! He just sits there, happy as a lark, but DOES NOTHING! What can I do? I can't do it for him, because if I could I WOULD! I've tried everything I can think of. I've turned on the water, given him something to drink. I've tried putting him on it first thing in the morning, last thing at night, before bath, after bath, before nap, after nap, when his diaper seems dry. AAACK! If you can't tell, I'm getting a little frustrated. We have a disconnect and I'm not sure what to do about it. I guess I could try the old slumber party trick and dip his hand in ice cold water...

My first was trained in about a week at around 2 1/2 years old...and we applauded ourselves as being great parents. So God laughed and gave me #2...and he decided to take his sweet time...nothing I did could make a difference - it was solely in HIS OWN TIME that he decided to pee like a man! :) He finally was completely trained at about 3 years old. Not too bad. Hold your breath for our #3!

Girl, I feel your pain! Hang in there...it will connect one day. Maybe you need to put Cheerios in the toilet and let him stand like big brother.
