Remember this, Mom?
My Mom gave me this book before I started Kindergarten 27 years ago. I still have it. I found this picture of it on the internet. Mine looks very similar, but with a few more rips and scratches. I remember sleeping with it and asking to have it read to me OVER and OVER and OVER. It brought me comfort.
Tonight, life came full circle when I read it to my own son the night before his first day of Kindergarten.

What a treasure! That is so neat you have been able to read that to Richie today.
I can't wait for tomorrow. Enjoy driving thru the LOOP...keep your cool. Wave at Mr. Smiley.
See you for breakfast!
Does his school have a "boo hoo" breakfast for the mom's tomorrow? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, these feelings will subside a bit after you adjust and start to really enjoy the special "mommy and will" time, but then comes the first day of first grade, second, and well you get the point! At Hannah's open house (2nd grade now) as we were walking down the hall to her new class room something came over me and here we go again...i was a mess! I thought "what's the deal" she's not a baby anymore..boo hoo hoo! I will be thinking of you tomorrow and I know you will get thru it just like he will just fine! Take care, and thank you for the comments on my new blog! Sharon
How great that you still have that book. That is so special. And I too am begiining to feel the tears build. Keilani will be going into the 3rd, but this is the 1st Fall that I won't be homeschooling her. It is hard to let go when we are used to being with our children so much. But we adjust. And they adjust. And the time we have together becomes more special. :)
I love this post! What a great tradition to pass on to your kids! I hope you and Richie both have a great day!
I've never seen that book. Probably a good thing...I would've bawled myself when my girl started school.
She said this week that she wishes she were home-schooled. When I picked my jaw up off the floor, she laughed & said she was just joking. She got me good, though. Trust me, THAT would be a disaster!
Can't wait to hear how it goes!
