I Live

It was touch and go there for awhile. You think I'm kidding. But that is because you did not just survive the stomach flu from HADES. Oh the misery. Oh the sleeplessness. Oh the aches...and the pains...and the groaning.

Are you feeling sorry for me yet?

Would it help if I told you the stomach flu cut short an overnight stay away from the kids that was a present for my birthday from my husband? And that I missed a girls night out (also to celebrate my birthday) the next night as well?

Yes, I thought so.

All I can say is that sickness truly brings an appreciation for health! Thank you Lord, for my health!

I will say that that Friday night was wonderful, the sickness didn't hit until about 1am on Saturday. Honestly, I think I knew things were going a little too well.

My husband was able to get an INCREDIBLE deal at a hotel here in town. They were offering a special to the faculty of the college. And my friend offered to babysit my kiddos for FREE (as a birthday present...she apparently hates shopping that much). Then we received our dinner for free because they happened to be filming a commercial at the restaurant where we ate and we let them film our table. And then we even received a discount on our movie. See why I should have suspected the impending illness? It was all just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

And it was. Oh, and I think I said something in the car to my husband that night about how we had all been pretty healthy lately and wasn't that very interesting? Indeed. Very interesting. What was I thinking? I should know better. I should SO KNOW BETTER!

Sorry. I think I'm done now. And I feel better. As I am sure you do, too.

Thank you.

Oh, before I go here is a pic Rich took of the room. If you could see the whole bed you would see a flu stricken lump on the left hand side. Which of course, would be me. Thankfully he had the wisdom (after threats of loss of life and limb) not to take a picture of me in that state.

I am so glad you are living! The stomach flu is the WORST!

Can't wait to celebrate your birthday this week. No one else is allowed to get sick.

Great room, by the way. Sorry it ended so short.

WOW! That room is Beautiful! What a fantastic night, I'm just so sorry that it ended badly!

I think fate decided to visit us today too...Ya know how I said I was SO glad that Austin had food poisoning instead of the stomach flu...Well, tonight Annie threw-up for the first time, and second, and third. She hasn't been to Jen's today, so I'm guessing she's actually sick. (JK Jen!) Great. I'm praying the hand sanitizer saves the rest of us. Time will tell.

Looking forward to your birthday celebration, take 2!

I'm glad to hear you are feeling great again! The stomach flu is the worst sickness! I'm looking forward to celebrating your birthday with you!

Well my first thoughts were ... shew I didn't poison Austin it was the flu!

Then after reading your post I am thinking a restaurant that actually HAS to advertise in this town, maybe you had food poisoning. It would explain the quick onset.

Anyhoo missed you lots! Can't wait for a healthy groundhog's day celebration.

Alana---

I have noticed your comments several times on some of the blogs I check daily, and so I thought I would stop by for a visit.

What an insane weekend! Glad you could enjoy Friday and that beautiful hotel room. Maybe there is another reason your dinner was free....

BTW, I clicked on your link on your profile that led to your husband's blog. I love that he blogged about all the deals he got on his thrift store trip. You must be so proud. :)

Oh my friend. What a miserable way to spend your birthday weekend. When Rich called to say you were down and out I was so terribly sorry for you (and for me since I was looking forward to a girl's night out...oh yea...this isn't about me). I'm glad you are up and about. I look forward to a take 2 on the celebration!

I'm so glad you're feeling better, Alana. Perhaps that awesome man of yours will treat you to another night out sans children to make up for having to spend this weekend with the flu. I agree with everyone else about that room being beautiful. Oh to stay somewhere like that. Perhaps, someday, I will. :)

You know that's exactly what i did too! I was bragging about not getting the stomach bug like everyone else had and two days later Mattea and Myles were throwing up.

I hope you are feeling better soon! Happy Birthday too. Sickness is temporary and will soon pass! :) Atleast you had a beautiful room to lay in!

oh dear...after pneumonia, i don't want the flu---can you get it from blogging???

dear miss true confessions...you have such a refreshing honesty about you---like "I will never let anyone think more highly of me" attitude AND "I can't say one word about this if I haven't done it" attitude AND that's good! i like that! but don't fess up again...cause you'll be back...and when you are, it will be powerful! Cause HE is so alive in you and on the move...love you girl!

"It" won't let me leave your blog...I'm kind of STUCK HERE and that's not ever happened to me before...so, I guess I'll comment again.

Hi...not good that you had the flu and hope it's G O N E ... like yesterday...

I kind of think you are an eye-to-eye girl. Are you? Living in the present. Are you? Like Joseph said in the dark dungeon...what's your face look like this moment? Sad? That's one thing about blogging that is so hard...can't see your face. But, you know what, you can't see your face either so you need to let others tell you just how beautiful your heart really is...may not see your face but I do see that heart for Him through your words and it is beautiful, Alana...look forward to the day we speak eye-to-eye...still STUCK on you so I guess I have to REBOOT...BYE

Oh for Pete's sake, Alan, I am so sorry! Who knows why we go through these things at such inconvenient times. maybe someday we'll know! Glad you are feeling better, though.

That stinks that you were sick and missed all the fun things that were planned for you... I feel your pain. One time I had to miss a "Casting Crowns" concert. I had the tickets a long time in advance, but got a crippling migraine and could not make it. I was so bummed... Glad you are feeling better :)

Okay, so you know that I so totally and completely feel ya on this one. I'm so sorry - but so glad that you are alive and kickin'.

Hey - btw - I just this week discovered Izze-Esque. It's basically Izze with more water as far as I can tell. Not quite as sweet, but wayyyyy fewer calories so that's a good thing. I'm glad to see I've converted you.

About Lost----watch out b/c that's the way Brett and I did it and we would literally watch the DVD's until the wee hours of the morning and get up bright and early the next day.

You do have to watch past the Pilot and the first couple of episodes before you get sucked in!

I am not a big television fan and rarely get hooked on things but I LOVE Lost! :)
