A Slight Kink

There has been a slight kink in my plan.

Thankfully, I got a good bit of my plan accomplished before I succumbed to this fate. The "plan" being to unpack, take down decorations and clean and organize my home. This "fate" being parked on the couch with my foot in the air.

I ignored for quite some time the pain in my foot. I thought, I must have twisted it...it'll feel better soon. But after I crawled into bed last night, exhausted from two days of non-stop goal achieving and pain ignoring, I thought, hmmm...maybe I should take a look at it.

Yeah, it was not pretty.

Swollen and purple.

Lovely. The first time in months (I'm not exaggerating) that I have had ANY motivation to accomplish tasks beyond the ones crucial to our existence and I end up with a sprained ankle. At least that's what I think it is, I haven't actually been to the doctor for a diagnosis. And do you want to know the best part? For the longest time I had NO IDEA how I did it. I don't remember hurting it. The only thing we can figure is that it happened on New Year's Eve when I went bowling with friends from church. Yes, that's right. I sprained my ankle playing the VERY STRENUOUS sport of Bowling.

I'll just let that sink in.

BOWLING+ALANA=SPRAINED ANKLE

mmmhmmm.

Because I'm graceful like that. And athletic. I'm athletic, too.

Oh, I can totally relate, Alana! I sprained mine a couple of months ago right when I was motivated to start exercising! Guess what kind of exercise video I was doing... A walking video. Yes, I was WALKING in place.

Kinda like bowling.

I hope your injury is a very fast healing one and that your motivation lingers until you are fully recovered!

Take care!!

Looks like it might just be time for that Anne marathon after all! Wish I was a real life friend and lived near you...I could bring the dove dark chocolate and Chai Tea and we would be all set...for at least the first 1/2 hour!!!!

Seriously, I hope your ankle feels better soon!

Ok, so you were cracking me up! I'm so sorry though that your ankle is bothering you. I'm finding that the older I get the more things happen with my own body & I don't know why or when it happened....Urgg!! I hope you get better soon. In the meantime, enjoy the rest!

Does that mean you didn't get the closet cleaned out? I certainly hope so...you need to rest! We've got a whole month to get this party started ;-)

Wouldn't that frost ya!? Especially when you finally have the urge and desire to get things accomplished, and then you physically can't. I'm sorry. I hope it won't be long before you're back on your feet again.

Yikes! Hopefully it is only a sprain. All the housework can wait...take care of yourself first!

Feel better soon.

We went bowling this week and I hurt my knee. I was just getting ready to throw the ball down the lane and POP, somthing happened to my knee.
It was so painful. It still hurts but I am giving it through the weekend.
Fun times!

hope you feel better.

Sorry to hear about your ankle! Cleaning and organizing can wait, I'm just glad it won't slow down your Nertz playing! :)

LOL! But not really because a sprained ankle really hurts....

So sorry about the ankle! It's no fun when mama is down.
I twisted mine one time at Curves. Not on a machine, but on a recovery pad. I stepped off of the side of it and ended up on crutches for a week. Yep, I'm graceful like that, too!

oh no...you can take the toughest of times and make it into such an entertaining story...sorry this one is at your expense...i guess better than spraining it playing 20-minute Scrabble...oh no...hope you feel better soon...like tomorrow

Oh, no! I hope you will feel better soon! I broke my toe last year just walking through a doorway, so maybe we can start a club for people who hurt themselves with little effort. :)

You know I'm feeling for ya as sit here with an ice pack on MY ankle as I type. It took me months to finally go to the dr only to find out I had stress fracture. Between me and you, we could really do some damage huh!? Hope it feels better SOON! And hey... bowling CAN be a dangerous sport!

You poor thing! I can not believe you sprained your ankle bowling...girl, that sounds like something only I could do!

I hope and pray that you are resting, maybe reading some blogs, and watching some of your favorite shows for a bit...you will have more energy in a bit!

Take Care,
Melissa

Girl...I am so sorry. Thinking about you and your foot! Hope you got lots of bowling strikes!

That's why I don't bowl. It's just asking for injury.

Hope you feel better soon!

Bowling will do that to you, eh? Hope the diagnosis is not too bad and that it heals soon. Rest up!

Fran said...

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Please tell us that it is not broken and just sprained and you have been healed miraculously by the Great Physician?!!!

I'm so sorry!

Well yeah, if you weren't athletic, how could you bowl?!

I hope your ankle feels better soon and that when it does, you stil have your enthusiasm to get stuff done!

Sometimes God is funny in the way that He tells us we're not done resting!! I'm laughing with you, because after being home for a week with sick kids, my sister came to stay with us and her family ended up getting sick, followed by some other family members. Mark then proceeded to get it for the second time in two weeks. Yeah. God was telling me "Seriously...you need a slow, unbusy holiday." Hee Hee. I hope you recover soon, but I hope you enjoy a couple of days at a slower pace!

Jen: Hey! Wii injuries are serious business, just ask my behind!

At least you were really bowling when you got injured. You don't get much sympathy when you get injured playing virtual bowling! :)

BethAnne said...

I hate you hurt your ankle, but look at this as a way to milk sympathy for all its worth. Make sure your husband waits on you hand and FOOT for at least 2 weeks. How often does a girl GET to sit on her behind and do nothing? Rarely, so take advantage. The decorations will wait, you might even want to leave them up til next year. Think of how nice it would be to come in on a hot July night to Christmas lights.......just think about it.

Oh friend. I am sorry for you and your ankle. But, it caught the attention of the B*G M*MA! Anything for that!! :)

Carissa said...

i was gonna say the same thing janelle...alana...big mama commented on your blog. she read it and commented. this is a big day. big. big like big mama big. wow!

You so encouraged me today, Alana. Thanks for jumping in with two feet. Or should I say one foot. I just think the world of you!

How's the foot?

Oh, I feel so much better. I thought I was the world's WORST bowler but I have not sufferered physical harm. (Unless you count the time that I got my thumb stuck in a bowling ball.) I think I need to hang out with you at sporting events.

Hope you feel better soon.
