It's For A Good Cause

I have a new addiction. My eyes are burning and my brain is hurting from spending too much time at a certain website today.

It is called FreeRice.com. Have you heard of it? Did I mention that I'm addicted? I am a lover of words and so I cannot get enough of this little quiz.

Basically, it's a never ending vocabulary test. If you get an answer right, a donation is made of 20 grains of rice to United Nations World Food Program. I played so long this afternoon and evening that I think my rice count was up in the 30,000's when I stopped. Also, it keeps track of your vocabulary level. I did PRETTY well if I do say so myself...of course not as well as my smarty pants husband. He's too smart for his own good, he'll probably have a perfect score before the end of the night.

Curses.

Anyway, you guys should check it out. It is one addiction you don't have to feel guilty about ;-)

Here's the link...

I did this awhile back on Cheryl at profbaugh's blog and don't rememeber how I did. I'll go play again. Are you leaving the link up on your sidebar at all?? I'll see if I can't figure that out.

Great cause! Thanks for sharing.
Love,
Fran

I have done it, and it is SO addictive! At least it is for something worthwhile!

I'm afraid to click...vocabulary challenge and the chance to help others...I might never get off of the website.

Thanks for the link. I'll be calling you when I'm unemployed due to misuse of hospital internet. LOL!

I'm addicted, so thanks for that! I was going to write this in some of those new words that I learned, but I can't remember any of them!

I took a vocab class in High school; it was a favorite of mine. Unfortunately none of the words came up on the quiz! I guessed alot. Oh well, at least I made an effort. I'm better at Math! (He He)

Okay, Alana, it's not as if I need anything else to keep me on this computer! (BTW, I am pretty good at it too ;-)

I have heard of that before, but never checked it out. My vocab needs some help but I'm willing to try it out for this great cause!

Oh My. I just spent an hour and a half doing this! AAAGGGHHH! If I continue I'll forget Ellie at school! I think I'll let this go...but I did have fun! I made it to level 39!

So, 20,000 grains of rice and level 46 later, I am writing to tell you that my eyeballs are bleeding and I probably won't be able to drive home tonight from work. Maybe I'll just sleep here in between vocabulary quizzes....

So going over there to check it out!

I just left Teri's blog and saw your comment about Andy. "Opportunity". LOVED THAT. I instantly prayed that God will use this opportunity He presented!

Hey Alana,

I saw your comment and could not find your "Know & Tell" answers on Fran's blog... I could have just missed it... Please feel free to come back this Friday and participate again, as I will have a new set of questions... If you can let me know what post I can find your answers from last week on, I will try to find
them too. Blessings...

Sorry to leave so many comments, but I checked out the link too... Could be addictive, but I did learn a new word that I could use... Smarm (I think that was it)..It means excessive flattery.. I may be able to use that in a sentence in the future :) Thanks for the link.
