Save the Brownies!

Run FAR, FAR, AWAY from anyone who suggests adding a can of diet cola to your brownie mix. Because guess what? Brownies made with diet cola? Taste indeed like BROWNIES MADE WITH DIET COLA! I know. Go figure. Such a suggestion is sick and wrong and a waste of a perfectly good brownie mix. Seriously, if you want to save the calories, eat the brownie mix DRY! It will be the same amount of calories, taste much better, and be considerably less traumatic.

Trust me on this, my friends. I know of what I speak.

Taking your word on this one, Alana. I am not a fan of Diet Coke anyway, so to me it would be a huge waste of perfectly yummy brownie mix. :)

Too funny. You will not believe I just went to a Tupperware party where the consultant made something close to these brownies in one of their nice microwave-safe dishes. She used a can of Diet Coke too. To me they tasted rather good, but it was used with a chocolate cake mix, not a brownie mix.

I actually bought the dish she made them in, ready to try them at home. Whoops! :-) I guess there's no going back on this one for me, but I'll let you know if the chocolate-cake-mix idea works better than the brownies. Hahaha!

Maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking if you're gonna have a brownie, have a BROWNIE. I thank you for the tip but will stick with reduced fat ice cream and full fat brownies. :)

If you wanna cut the calories go with egg whites instead of eggs and applesauce instead of oil.

Taste is delicious!

Yuck. I'll be sure NOT to try that one.

Im with Tara. If we're gonna have a brownie, lets just have a real one! A small real one instead of a large yucky one!!

now that's a strange one! diet cherry coke, diet lime coke, but never diet brownie coke! ;o)

I don't want to laugh...because I agree...it was a waste of brownies...but it totally sounds like the kind of thing that would happen to me!

Sorry it didn't work out, buddy!

Uh, yeah. I feel pretty much the same about a Coca-Cola cake. I'm thinking, though, that DIET soda just wouldn't go well in any recipe that also had REAL sugar. I dunno. I think I'll just drink the diet soda whilst eating my brownie. Doesn't the diet cola cancel out the brownie anyway? Heh.

I'm with Tara, two bites of GOOD brownie is worth a panful of nasty ones. :)

I've also heard of adding a can of pumpkin to a dry chocolate cake mix. I hear the results are really good and save lots of fat and calories - so keep trying. The perfect, delicious, no calorie, no fat dessert has to be out there SOMEWHERE! :)

I *love* diet pop ... and I would think that it would actually be good in brownie mix. No? Well, thanks for the tip. That sounds like an interesting recipe! I added some Dr. Pepper to some spiced apples and raisins the other night to serve over pork chops. It was yummy!

LOL! You've been trolling the Weight Watchers website, haven't you? Not to make fun of WW, because I have done it with much success over the years, but some of the recipes shared were just downright WRONG!

I really did not think brownies and diet cola could even be uttered in the same sentence let alone mixed! Lol!

YUCK. Once again I say....YUCK!

Ummmmm....interesting thought to try there....

Maybe it is an acquired taste? I have never tried it in brownies but I have added a diet coke to a chocolate cake mix and it was really good. Seriously! Even my kids and husband liked it. Actually, now all I can think about is brownies! REAL BROWNIES!!! YUM!

ROFL... I've used Sprite with cake mix before with great success... but I agree... don't mess with brownies! ROFL

I am totally confused by this. Why would anyone want to ruin perfectly good brownies by adding diet coke? Brownies is a synonym for chewy, fatty, chocolately goodness, not DIET.
