Dallas or Bust

Big News! A few days after Nana and Papa leave, my parents are coming to love on their grandchildren while Rich and I go away BY OURSELVES for a few days.

Yahoo!

Our destination? Dallas!

Rich will be attending a conference and I will be tagging along to do...well anything I want to do. Doesn't that sound heavenly?

Now that is where you come in. I know several of you have Dallas connections. So, what should we do and where should we eat? That last one being the most important. Naturally. I plan do a good bit of just hanging out by the pool and sleeping in, but we'll want to get out a little as well.

Help? The conference will be at The University of Dallas in Irving if that helps.

Ooh! Ooh! I know! Rent a car and drive 4 more hours south and see me!!!

Oh I kid! Well, not really since I would love to meet you in person, but that would be a ridiculous drive.

Hope you have a great time!

I live in Oklahoma but have been to the Dallas area numerous of times. I would highly recommend eating at Pappadeux. It is cajun seafood. Or eat at Babe's Chicken. It is family style servings. Delicious!!! Have lots of fun. Some of the best times are relaxing by a pool, reading, and not going going going.

Hi! I have dropped in to visit a few times, and love your blog! I used to live in Dallas for a few years, and I second Julie's recommendation of Pappadeauxs...it's fabulous. Of course, you sort of have to like seafood to enjoy it. :) Awesome desserts too...if you go there you've gotta splurge on that.

There is also a little pizza place called Fireside Pies that's awesome.

One more...! :) If you like your meat, they have a good Brazilian steakhouse called Texas de Brazil that's yummy...but be prepared to leave STUFFED.

Of course there are some great upscale steakhouses like Ruth's Chris and Mortons...can't go wrong with those!

And if you get a chance, you should go shopping at the North Park Mall. Good stuff!

I'm sorry...didn't mean to leave such a long comment. Have a wonderful trip!

You TOTALLY deserve it!!! I am so excited for you! I love Dallas, but I'm not familiar enough to make a lot of suggestions. That would be my mom. Maybe you can ask her tonight! The one thing I did think of was...IKEA!!! That would be a great place to spend some time!

Alana - I actually lived in Flower Mound - just North of Dallas about 30 miles and here's the sad part - I can't remember a whole lot of specific things to do. I am going to chalk it up to being newly married - no money - and it was about 10 years ago. I do remember, however, that the Grapevine Mills Mall there in Flower Mound is awesome. It's like a huge outlet mall and it is great. Have an amazing time!

I hope you guys have an awesome time. I havent been to Dallas in a few years so I cant help on where to go, but I can say this: Stay up late, enjoy not having to cut anyone's meat when you go out to dinner, and you guys both do your best to be the person that each of you fell in love with. Oh yeah, and have fun!!!
