An Unexplainable Gravitational Pull

Have you ever experienced an unexplainable gravitational pull toward this establishment when the special sign is flashing red? You know the sign that says...

HOT
DONUTS
NOW!!!

Did you know that if the sign is flashing and you stop and enter said establishment, they will give you a tasty Original Glazed donut for FREE?

And did you know that according to the website their donuts have 0 grams of trans fat? And come in a whole wheat version? Because word on the street is that if a donut has no tran fat and is whole wheat that makes it HEALTHY! So just throw in some fruit snacks (because they're made with fruit, you know) and you have yourselves a well balanced breakfast! Plus, you don't have to do anything strenuous like peeling an apple.

But seriously, I normally try to resist the gravitational pull of the flashing red sign, but one day a few weeks ago, I decided it would be a fun stop for me with my little guy, Will. Because after all they have that window for viewing the machines that make the donuts and I figured that along with being healthy, it would also be educational!

Turns out, this time with my youngest was not only healthy and educational, but very sweet for Mommy. No pun intended. Because honestly, what could be sweeter than this view from across the table?

I used to live about a block from Krispy Kreme. I was also pregnant with Nathan. I think that's where the majority of the 60 lbs I gained came from!!

What a sweet picture....how can you resist that little face?

Alana, that picture is absolutely adorable! Oh, and did you know that an original glazed krispy kreme is only four ww points?! That's not too bad, right?

He has to marry Annie. I'm not even kidding.

Laughing...cause we just walked in the door from this place!! We go every Saturday night after church and love every calorie and gram of fat!

They give us a free doughnut every time we go. And, the funny thing is that I recognize Will's doughnut...the one's they had around St. Patrick's Day! LOL!

Eat on, little Will! :)

I have a confession - I have never ever been to Krispy Kreme nor have I had a Krispy Kreme donught. I might be one of the few people who have never been there!

I am glad you had a great time with Will. It will be a special memory for him!

I too love Krispy Kreme donuts, but believe it or not they are going out of business here! There's only one left in our big city. I honestly have to avoid them because I can't just eat one. What a fun date with your little man!

That is so sweet. Dates like that with our kids are treasures for moms.

Mmmm...donuts. I have a serious thing for donuts, and my mouth is watering now just thinking about them. And now that I find out they're healthy?!!

He's adorable, Alana, adorable. :)

OK, I admit it... I don't like donuts. They don't tempt me in the least. (though if I had to eat one, I'd get it with sprinkles)

Your son is so adorable in that picture and looks quite delighted with his donut :)

Here's something sad, I didn't have to look at the link because I already knew that sign...very well.
It tends to draw me in, too.

He is a cutie pie!

Goodness... those things are my weakness. I must stay away! They are like chips, I can't have just one... or two... or...

see?

Um, Shelley. He is going to marry Loulabelle. Let's just get that straight. OK?

Don't ever tell yourself that you aren't a fun mom again. That was a fun thing to do. Love the smile and the hot donuts.

My FAVORITE!! WHEN HOT AND READY!!!

You are right, you see that sign and you can not help the pull to the drive through. Magnetic!

That is a sweet photo

Thanks Alana! Now all I can think about is wanting a hot, fresh off the press donut!! This is not helping the diet and/or waistline! But boy does that boy of yours look awfully sweet in that photo! Priceless.

Oh how I love those spontaneous moments where I let myself relax and do something "out of the box." Sometimes those are the sweetest mothering moments! I love this picture of Will. What a sweet memory for you two!

What kind of question is that? Of course my car goes on auto pilot when the hot now sign is flashing! ARe you crazy? And of course those things are healthy! 0 trans fat? They might as well be considered a fruit or a vegetable. I think a steady diet of them would probably even make you lose weight! Wanna go on the Krispy Kreme diet with me? (at least we would still fit in our flip flops!)

I think I came across your blog from Teri's. I was immediately drawn when I read on your profile you liked Anne of Green Gables. I love it and can't wait to hopefully pass it on to a child of my own someday!!

The picture of your youngest is absolutely adorable.

I look forward to reading and knowing you more.

Thank the Lord we moved away from one of those wonderful establishments.

But much to my boys' delight, every once in awhile there will be a makeshift stand SOMEWHERE in town where a group has traveled 2 hours away to bring a stack of KK boxes full of that scrumptious treat, back to sell for a fundraiser and guess who always seems to drive right by them?

You need to support the community right?

Your son is one cutie patootie!!

Those are one of our favorite treats. We have one right next to our doctor's office, so when my kids have to visit the doctor, they believe a donut must follow!

I just want to reach out and smooch him! Doesn't just looking at him make you want more? (kids, not donuts! Hee Hee.) Oh, if only we could freeze those days to pull out when we really need a dose of sweetness.

Thanks for the review on those fitflops...could be worth a try. :)

Our nearest KK is 2.5 hours away, so the temptation isn't there for me very often. Well, not until we make plans to visit Des Moines, then I plot and scheme and do whatever I can to get there! I figure eating three or four at the same time every six months is the same as spreading them out to less than one a month. So I'm good, right?? =)

When my son Madden was a toddler his favorite past time was watching the Donuts go through the icing shower. i can't tell you how many free donuts they gave him.

And do you know that my mother goes to KK late at night before she leaves to get on a plane to Japan? She hand carries those Donuts just for my son Madden. He's no longer a toddler now----he's almost 8.

Too bad the closest KK is over 45 mins. away and has a line that you have to wait 2 hours in. Ridiculous, I know. But one day, I'll take Madden there to experience it "japanese" style. :)
