Take a Hike

I may have still been on a high from my crunchy leaf expedition when I suggested on Sunday afternoon that we take a family hike.

Yes, you read that right. Don't feel bad if it shocks you, I can hardly believe it myself.

I'm not exactly the outdoorsy type, as much as I'd like to be. I'm sort of allergic to the outdoors. I want to enjoy it, but it usually just makes me sneeze and have a runny nose. Plus, it is often hot, cold, and/or contains a lot of bugs.

And we all know how I feel about certain types of bugs.

But you see, Sunday, was a crisp, cool, beautiful day and the crunchy leaves were calling my name. It REALLY could have backfired. We could have ended up out in the middle of NOWHERE with two children who wanted to be carried back to SOMEWHERE.

SCARY THOUGHT.

Thankfully, God had mercy on our ambitious nature (no pun intended) and blessed us with a beautiful hike. I didn't need a Kleenex once, and the boys LOVED it.

Best of all, we stumbled upon this...

"I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds. Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?"

Psalm 77:12&13

What a great mom! Hopefully some fond memories were made. I am not an outdoor person either. :)

WHAT?!

Do you have a fever? Do you have spots? How many fingers am I holding up?

Glad you had fun...you should try it more often...the hiking that is.

As I was reading this, I was wondering "did they stumble upon a waterfall" because I saw that you listed that as one of the things you are thankful for. Seeing this, I know why!! It's beautiful!!

Sounds like a fun day! I'm with you on the outdoors thing. My problem is that I haven't accepted the fact that I'm not a big outdoors person...I like to think that I am. But when I'm out there, I'm usually cold or hot, or sneezy, like you.

Does the store where you bought your blankie at have a website that I could order from? I LOVE blankies, and am always looking for a cozy one to snuggle with. It has to have silk or some kind of satiny material on it, though. That's what makes it comfy to me. :) Silly, isn't it?

Thanks for sharing...I'm glad your hike was fun! And I love the way you write...you're clever!

Breathtaking. Certainly worth the "price" of the hike, no?

That looks beautiful! Good for you in getting out & enjoying God's creation. I'm not a huge outdoor person either, but as I've gotten older I've tried to "look up" and see all that God created. Good for you in getting out too!

Yeah, we don't have stuff like that around here. We just have fires, mountain lions and rattlesnakes. kidding.

This is so gorgeous. I love serendipitous Sundays.

A Hike? What? Isn't that something that only "those" people do?

Just kidding! Seriously, I think it's great! And that waterfall, Beauiful! I have accepted the fact that I am not such an outdoorsy person also. It's not that I'm allergic, it's more the hot/cold/bugs/dirt/too much work...But every now and then I get the urge to be outside. And Sunday was one of those Perfect days!
