Yes. We are Artsy.

Or at least my husband is. Did you all know my husband is an artist? If you've ever visited his blog you will know this fact. Or you might have guessed it from his profile picture. He is actually a professor of art and teaches mostly graphic design courses, but he also does work of his own when he has the time. That time has been little for the last several years (with little ones), but now that the kids are older he has been able to focus again on this aspect of his person. Plus, he has a show coming up at Union University, in Jackson, TN...so a deadline also helps.

He has recently created an Etsy site to display and sell his artwork. I really love his current work. In the past he has done mostly painting, but recently he has been working on assemblage. Basically he uses discarded pieces of pottery, glass, metal, etc. and pulls them all together into a beautiful piece of art. He redeems them. Did I mention that Rich is a Christian artist? So, yes, you may infer that each piece of work has a deeper spiritual meaning, which to me, makes it all the more beautiful.

So, all that said, if you're interested you can check out his new shop. It's called Bits of Redemption and you'll find it here.

Finally, I will leave you with a preview. It is one of my favorite pieces and is currently displayed in my dining room.

I check his website regularly for more of his art. The piece you show on your blog is one of my favorites, but my absolute favorite is the tower. It would look really good in my living room.

I have enjoyed seeing the new pieces on his blog.

I actually can't wait to pull JP aside and show him the etsy site. He really enjoys works of art like that.

So cool! I see an elephant when I look at it--reminds me of the story of the blind men describing an elephant--all made up of different pieces to make one amazing creature!

I may need art 101 because I didn't see the elephant. I would love to be tutored so I can really appreciate his awesome work. He is the coolest artist I know! I just wish I could talk intellectually about it with him.

Well, I wish I could talk intellectually about anything really.

Very cool art pieces and I LOVE the name he's given his shop. I was blog hopping tonight and came across your blog but I think I've visited before b/c somehow I've been to his before. LOL I think I start at my friend Patty and go to Bethanne's and don't know from that circle of friends how I wind up here. It's fun though! :)

I love all of the pieces hanging on your walls...and the Christmas card from several years ago.
