You Reap What You Sow

A couple of years ago at a MOPS convention, I came across an interesting resource called Seeds Family Worship. They are worship CDs for families. The lyrics to the songs are solely from scripture. I purchased two, one with the theme of praise and the other with the theme of courage. I only played them a time or two after I returned home because it seemed like my boys were a little too young for them at the time.

However, just recently, I found them in the car, dusted them off and gave them another whirl. I'm SO glad I did. They have been a huge hit. The boys love the music. The other day I had the most beautiful and JOYFUL moment singing praise to God with my boys coming home from school. And for those of you who have experienced pick-up from school in our little town, you know it can only be an ACT OF GOD that I would experience any amount of joy after leaving "THE LOOP". (Sorry, I digress.) So, can I just say our little moment of praise was PRECIOUS? Richie is in the back singing at the top of his lungs, and when I look in the rear view mirror, Will is back there giving it his best as well. It was one my favorite Mommy moments EVER! This is the scripture we were singing...

"Praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights above.

Praise him, all his angels,
praise him, all his heavenly hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the skies.

Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created."

Psalm 148:1-5

All this to say, I'd like to recommend this resource to you. The music is fun so the kids enjoy it, but here's the clincher...I really enjoy the music as well. There are a couple of the slower songs the kids don't really go for (of course these are the ones that I like). And a couple of the songs that I think are a little hokey or have hokey parts (which, you guessed it...the kids LOVE). Thankfully, those songs are not SO hokey that you feel the need to store tranquilizers in your glove compartment. But the biggest selling point is that every song is STRAIGHT from scripture. I love knowing that my family and I are memorizing scripture and being filled up with God's TRUTH.

So, I know you are all thinking...enough already, where's the link? So, without further ado I'd like to tell you a little story about...JUST KIDDING!

Here's the link.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to pull mine out and dust them off, too. I remember loving the sound of the music.

Thanks for sharing that sweet moment. Nothing is better than sharing God with our kids and knowing that they "get" it.

Thanks for the suggestion...they sound great! I'll definitely check them out.

Love the story. I bet God got a giggle out of that one...seeing you singing His praises in the car with His children. :)

These sound GREAT! I'm going to head over and take a look. Jack has started singing in the back of the car and I just started a blog post about it because it is just SO precious to hear him singing about his Savior. It makes me so proud of him and thankful that God is using the music to teach him.

Thanks for the resource! I came from a singing family growing up, and I have so much of God's word hidden in my heart because I learned it from a song. So much so that I sometimes have to hum the song a bit to get started on the verse!

I also love the Cedarmont Kids series of CDs. The singing is good and the songs range from hymns, to the songs we learned growing up in Sunday School to more current praise and worship songs.

What a great moment for you and your boys!

My boys love to sing. As a matter of fact, they are in the AWANAS program at church and we memorize the longer verses by putting them to music. It is a great way to memorize scripture AND it is funny to see the faces of people when my kids start singing their Bible verses.

I love it when my kids sing. I have recently heard my boys singing "Jesus Loves Me" and "Father Abram", but singing the Word is so powerful. I'll have to go check those out. Thanks for sharing!

One of the absolute best ways to hide His Word in our hearts... thankful for your spontaneous moments of worship! Those are the best!

We don't have those CD's, but we do have Steve Green's "Hide'em in your Heart" which is also straight from scripture. My youngest likes to try and look them up before the song is over. So cute.
I'm like you, I like them just as much as they do.
Thanks for the link!
