Fickle

This evening I was getting William dressed for his soccer game. And I'm using the term "game" quite liberally. He is only three and I wouldn't exactly say he is playing a game as much as he is running along with the crowd and on occasion coming into contact with the ball. Even if by accident.

Anyway.

As I'm putting on his shin guards and and soccer socks he says...

"I love these!"

(indicating the soccer socks & shin guards)

"They make me happy!"

Hmmm...

If you read this post a few days ago, those words may ring a bell. Yes, that's right...they are the EXACT SAME WORDS he used to describe his affinity for cuddling with Mommy.

What more could a mother ask for than to be put in the same league as soccer socks?

I'm honored.

Really.

I adore 3-4 yr old soccer! Sooooo cute! And you are right, how can you not love a boy who lumps you right in with shin guards? What an incredibly pure thing to say...I just LOVE childrens hearts!

I bet if given the choice he would definitely pick cuddling with mommy over shin guards!

Too cute----remember to file this one away for him in the future.
Soccer socks are great---they hardly ever stain and they keep your legs covered---just like mom!! :)

I'm glad that you are wise enough to realize what an honor that is! What an adorable little man. What do you think he would say about cuddling with Mommy IN his soccer socks??

I just happened on your blog from the LPM blog and noticed that one of your favorite books was The Heart is A Lonely Hunter....I saw a movie when I was real little back in the 60's by that title and God gripped me tightly through that movie and used it to direct me to Himself and after college I committed my life to Christ...I have never seen or heard anything with that title since that 60's movie---could it be the same one??? Just wondering....

adorable towhead boy who loves his mommy as much as his shin guards!!!!

You have no idea what finding that book means to me. I saw the movie in 1968 The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and in fact had it on my blog as one of my favorite movies---that's what 40 years ago and I am still talking about that movie. God so spoke to me through that movie and it was one of my first memories of God coming to me, speaking to me. My grandmother was deaf and she lived in our back room and never got out. As a young teen, that movie shaped my thinking of the dignity of an individual and how they are to be treated---can't wait to find the book...thank you so very much Alana. Read through your blog and I experience you as a woman of beauty who smiles at the future and who is surrounded by the favor of her good God. Psalm 5:12. Have a good weekend with Him---may it be filled with His Presence...thanks so much for responding...
